To start my preparation I looked for a good travel guide about Peru and the one that had the best ratings and reviews was the german guide "Reise Know How: Peru & Bolivien" that you can get at http://www.amazon.de.
The guide is very extensive and has tons of information about the country, the culture, hotels, several maps, tours and much more in it and though becomes a perfect companion on this journey.
There are some more guides out there such as "Lonely Planet" - but the reviews weren't as good as they were for this one. And since you have to carefully chose what and how much to take with you on such a tour I took this one.Another suggestion I got from the Celestine Vision Forum was the book "The Heights Of Macchu Picchu" by Pablo Neruda. Neruda writes several poems about his journey to Peru and the Inca city high up in the Andes. I did not start to read it yet cause I think it is a bit tougher to read for someone who is not a native speaker. But I will in the future! The guide is very extensive and has tons of information about the country, the culture, hotels, several maps, tours and much more in it and though becomes a perfect companion on this journey.
If you have any other suggestions for me, please feel free to post them below. I would be pleased to read more about this country before I go there!
